Weiss Opens Weekend Action at Red River Co-Op

Ricky Weiss opened his weekend with a trip to Red River Co-Op Speedway (RRCS) (Winnipeg, Canada) for an NLRA Late Model Special. A second place finish in the first heat race positioned Ricky starting sixth in the main event. Weiss quickly charged to front of the pack in the feature, and ran second much of the race. Weiss came to life late in the race and was able to narrow the gap on early leader Brad Seng, but he never closed in enough to challenge for the top spot. Seng went on to claim the win while Weiss settle for a second place run. Dustin Strand, Mike Balcaen, and Steffen Snare rounded out the top five finishers. Friday night found Ricky back in action at I-94 Speedway (Fergus Falls, Minnesota), and after winning his heat race Weiss locked into the ninth starting spot in the finale. In the feature Ricky wasted no time charging to the front of the pack. Weiss had put a comfortable distance between himself and the field out front as the laps were winding down. Unfortunately a mechanical failure with just two lap remaining brought his night to an early end, and a disappointing seventeenth place finish. Complete results are available at www.I94Speedways.com
