Ricky Weiss traveled to East Bay Raceway Park (Tampa, Florida) for the 39th edition of the East Bay Winternationals.
Action kicked off on Tuesday night after Monday’s events were washed away by Mother Nature. Forty-two Super Late Models entered the $5,000-to-win event, and a fifth place finish in his heat race left Ricky just one spot short of the transfer. As a result, Weiss would have to run a b-main where he failed to reach a transfer position to the 25-lap feature, bringing his night to an early end.
Ricky enjoyed a much better outing on Wednesday as he went into battle against a field of forty-three entries, all chasing the $7,000 top prize. Despite starting deep in his heat race Weiss charged forward to a fourth place finish, earning him the fourteenth starting spot in the 35-lap LOLMDS main event. During the course of the feature, Weiss advanced two positions to a twelfth place finish in the final rundown.
Thursday’s action once again saw a $7,000-to-win event contested as forty-four Super Late Models registered for Round #3 of the 39th Annual East Bay Winternationals. Struggles in qualifying pinned Ricky deep in a heat race and he would only manage an eight place finish, sending him to a b-main. Weiss went on to a seventh place finish in the b-main, but only the top four finishers advanced to the 45-lap feature, ending his night early.
