World of Outlaws Late Models Invade Volusia Speedway Park

The World of Outlaws (WoO) Late Model Series took center stage at Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Florida) on Thursday night. The ultra-competitive tour sanctioned the final three nights of the 44th Annual DIRTcar Nationals.

Thursday’s $10,000-to-win race saw a field of forty-nine Super Late Models register for battle. With the top three finishers in heat race action advancing to the 50-lap finale, Weiss fell short of the mark and had to run a b-main. Ricky slipped to a sixth place finish in the b-main after starting fourth, and with only the top transferring to the main event his night would come to an early end.

Forty-seven entries converged on the 1/2-mile oval for Friday night’s $10,000-to-win, WoO Late Model Series event. Ricky started the night by posting the fourth fastest lap in his group during time trails to lock into the second starting spot for the fourth heat race. Weiss finished second in his heat race, which earned him a spot in the redraw where he was the recipient of the third position on the starting grid. Weiss raced amongst the top ten for much of the 50-lap feature before settling to a twelfth place finish in the final rundown.
