Tuesday night saw Ricky Weiss in action at Shawano Speedway (Shawano, Wisconsin) for the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series sanctioned Sun Drop Shootout. In a field of 26 cars, Weiss got caught in a tangle in his heat race that left him sidelined for the evening.
On Thursday evening Weiss followed the World of Outlaws to Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, Wisconsin) for the 31st annual USA Nationals. With 45 cars registered in for action, Ricky gained two spots in his heat logging a 6th place finish. Transferring into the B-Main for another shot at the A-Main, Weiss scored a runner-up finish behind Chris Simpson positioning him 19th on the starting grid for the feature. With $6,000 on the line, Ricky Weiss advanced through the field 11 spots in the 40-lap affair to place 8th.
The following night for two rounds of heat races, Weiss jumped up two spots in his first heat to place 3rd. Rolling off 5th in his second heat, Ricky passed three cars reeling in a runner-up finish behind Jimmy Mars. Earning a spot in the USA Nationals Pole Dash, Ricky dropped three spots in the 8-lapper to place 8th.
During the same night, Ricky landed a 2nd place finish in the 40-lap NASCAR Late Model feature trailing Jesse Glenz across the line with Darrell Nelson, Jake Redetzke, and James Giossi completing the Top-5 finishers.
Earning a spot into the FANSFund Dash, Ricky Weiss topped the 11-car field in the 12-lapper to pick up the $2,900 prize.
Starting the $30,000-to-win finale in the 8th on Saturday evening, Ricky Weiss slipped back to a 17th place outing after bringing out a caution on lap-94.
