Ricky Weiss Back in Action Over the Weekend

After some much needed time off, Rick Weiss returned to the seat of his #7 Derrick’s Sandblasting/ Bloomquist Super Late Model over the weekend. What was set to be a tripleheader weekend for the Headingly, Manitoba, Canada native was cut to a single say when Friday night’s program at I-94 Speedway (Fergus Falls, Minnesota), and Sunday’s event at Casino Speedway (Watertown, South Dakota), were both washed away by Mother Nature.

Saturday night found Weiss pitted at the Dakota State Fair Speedway (Huron, South Dakota) for the season opener with the Blaine Brothers Challenge Series WISSOTA Late Models. An impressive field of thirty-five entries were on hand, and a fifth to second run in his heat race locked Ricky into the fourth starting spot for the finale. Weiss was battling in the top five during the feature before losing brakes on his #7 entry and settling into a ninth place finish.
