Powering the A.I.E Communications #7 Super Late Model, Ricky Weiss was one of 34 Super Late Models signed in at Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tennessee) on Friday night for the Schaeffer Oil Spring Nationals sanctioned Scott Sexton Memorial. After laying down the fastest time overall in qualifying, Weiss posted a 2nd place finish in his heat behind Mike Marlar positioning him 5th on the starting grid for the feature. With $10,052 on the line, Ricky slipped back to an 11th place outing in the 52-lapper.
The following night Ricky stopped at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tennessee) for the Southern All Star Series sanctioned program. With 36 cars on hand for the Rockin’ with the Stars 50, Weiss secured his spot into the $7,500-to-win A-Main with a 3rd place finish in his heat.
