On Monday evening Ricky Weiss was one of 42 Super Late Models signed in at Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Florida) for the 48th annual DIRTcar Nationals. Dropping one spot in his heat, Weiss recorded a 5th place finish transferring him into the B-Main. After Mother Nature wiped out Tuesday’s event, Weiss returned to action on Wednesday for the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series sanctioned program. Holding his spot in his heat, Ricky posted a 5th place finish sending him into the B-Main. Falling one spot shy of a transfer position with a 3rd place outing, Weiss was granted a provisional into the $10,000-to-win A-Main. Gaining two spots in the 50-lap affair, Ricky Weiss notched a 24th place finish.
The following night, Ricky followed up the eighth fastest time in his qualifying group with a 2nd place finish in his heat behind Tim McCreadie. Starting the $10,000-to-win A-Main in 8th, Weiss improved five spots in the 50-lapper to place 4th behind Brandon Sheppard, Scott Bloomquist, and Don O’Neal with Tim McCreadie coming in 5th.
For the fifth round on Saturday, Weiss edged his way into the main event with the 3rd and final transfer spot in his heat. Starting in 17th, Ricky got behind a wreck on lap-27 that eliminated him from the feature. He was credited with a 23rd place outing.
Bringing the 48th annual DIRTcar Nationals to a close on Saturday, Ricky secured his spot into the $10,000-to-win A-Main with a 2nd place finish in his heat behind Brandon Sheppard. Starting in 8th, Weiss jumped up two spots to place 6th.
