Weiss scores third place finish in Billy Vacek Memorial at Lincoln Speedway

Headed east with the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series, Ricky Weiss traveled to Lincoln Speedway (Abbottstown, Pa.) on Thursday evening for the Billy Vacek and Huey Wilcoxon Memorial. Following the seventh fastest time in his qualifying group, Weiss charged forward three spots in his heat race to pick up the 10-lap victory. On Friday afternoon at Williams Grove Speedway (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) for the $10,000 top prize, Ricky laid down the second fastest lap in his time trial before coming in second in his heat behind Cade Dillard. Earning the eighth-starting position for the A-Main, Weiss suffered a flat left-rear tire on lap 34 that dropped him back to a 17th place outing.

For the weekend finale on Saturday evening at Eriez Speedway (Eerie, Pa.), Weiss fell one spot short of a transfer position in his heat with a fifth place finish. Streaking to a 10-lap consolation victory, Ricky earned the 18th-starting position for the A-Main. Passing 10 cars in the 50-lap affair, Ricky Weiss reeled in an eighth place finish.

Podium finish in Ralph Latham Memorial at Florence

On Wednesday evening Ricky Weiss was one of 53 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries on hand at Florence Speedway (Union, Ky.) for the 34th annual Ralph Latham Memorial. Passing three cars in his heat race to grab the third and final transfer spot, Weiss locked into the 17th-starting position for the $12,000-to-win A-Main. The following night for the North/South Shootout, Ricky logged a sixth place finish in his heat, sending him into the B-Main for another shot at the A-Main. Coming in second behind Billy Moyer Jr., Weiss locked into the 21st-starting position for the show. With $10,000 on the line, Ricky advanced forward eight spots to register a 13th place outing.

With a pair of heat races on Friday afternoon setting the grid for the North/South 100 on Saturday, Weiss jumped up one spot in his first heat to place eighth. After Mother Nature shifted the second round to Saturday afternoon, Ricky came in third.

Failing to lock his spot into the show via passing points, Weiss had one last shot at the $50,000-to-win Sunoco Race Fuels North/South 100 with a B-Main appearance. Needing to place third or better, Ricky fell one spot short with a fourth place outing. Earning a spot into the non-qualifiers feature, Weiss cruised to the 30-lap victory to pocket $2,000.

Weiss lands sixth-place finish in USA Nationals at Cedar Lake

Tuesday night saw Ricky Weiss return with the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series at Beaver Dam Raceway (Beaver Dam, Wis.) piloting his J&C Properties No. 7 Late Model. Passing three cars in his heat race to finish third, Weiss earned the ninth-starting position for the $10,000-to-win A-Main. Dropping one spot in the 50-lap affair, Ricky recorded a 10th place finish.

After a scheduled off-day on Wednesday, Ricky headed to Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, Wis.) on Thursday night to kick off the 33rd annual USA Nationals weekend. After coming one spot shy of a transfer position in his heat with a fifth place finish, Weiss streaked to a 10-lap consolation victory. With $6,000 on the line in the preliminary feature, Ricky jumped up three spots to place 15th.

On Friday night for a pair of heat races, Weiss improved one spot in his first round to finish sixth. Losing one spot in his second heat, Ricky logged a fourth place finish, positioning him 26th overall in passing points.

Mother Nature postpones Hoosier Dirt Shootout finale

For the second appearance of the season at the quarter-mile oval, Ricky Weiss returned with the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series on Tuesday night at Davenport Speedway (Davenport, Iowa). On Friday night, Weiss returned with the World of Outlaws at Kokomo Speedway (Kokomo, Ind.) for the two two-day Hoosier Dirt Shootout. With 32 cars on hand for the event in place of the Prairie Dirt Classic, Ricky posted eighth fastest time in his group, which positioned him eighth on the starting grid for the $2,500-to-win preliminary feature. On Saturday night needing a sixth place finish or better in his B-Main to make the $25,000-to-win Hoosier Dirt Shootout finale, Weiss took part in a quick attempt to complete the 12-lap consolation before the rain postponed it to Sunday afternoon. Continued rain overnight and on Sunday morning forced race officials to postpone the finale to a later date.
