Mother Nature postpones Hoosier Dirt Shootout finale

For the second appearance of the season at the quarter-mile oval, Ricky Weiss returned with the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series on Tuesday night at Davenport Speedway (Davenport, Iowa). On Friday night, Weiss returned with the World of Outlaws at Kokomo Speedway (Kokomo, Ind.) for the two two-day Hoosier Dirt Shootout. With 32 cars on hand for the event in place of the Prairie Dirt Classic, Ricky posted eighth fastest time in his group, which positioned him eighth on the starting grid for the $2,500-to-win preliminary feature. On Saturday night needing a sixth place finish or better in his B-Main to make the $25,000-to-win Hoosier Dirt Shootout finale, Weiss took part in a quick attempt to complete the 12-lap consolation before the rain postponed it to Sunday afternoon. Continued rain overnight and on Sunday morning forced race officials to postpone the finale to a later date.

Top 5 finish in Silver Dollar Nationals at I-80

Ricky Weiss made the trek to I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, Neb.) on Thursday afternoon to kick off the Imperial Tile Silver Dollar Nationals weekend with the Dirt Track Bank Go 50. Drawing 46 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries, Weiss timed in sixth fastest in his group before placing second in his heat behind Jonathan Davenport. Starting the $12,000-to-win A-Main in eighth, Ricky marched forward four spots in the 50-lapper to register a fourth place finish behind Jimmy Owens, Ricky Thornton Jr., and Brandon Sheppard with Josh Richards coming in fifth. On Friday afternoon for a pair of heat races, Weiss jumped up two spots in his first round to place sixth. Rolling off second round two, Ricky streaked to a 10-lap heat race victory, which positioned him 14th in total passing points.

Earning the 14th-starting position for the $53,000-to-win Imperial Tile Silver Dollar Nationals, Ricky advanced through the field nine spots to register a fifth place finish behind Brandon Sheppard, Ricky Thornton Jr., Chad Simpson, and Tim McCreadie.

Podium finishes in WoO North Dakota doubleheader

Following the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series on their northern swing, Ricky Weiss visited Gondik Law Speedway (Superior, Wis.) on Tuesday afternoon for the $10,000 top prize. Scoring the fourth and final transfer spot in his 10-lap heat, Weiss locked into the 16th-starting position for the main event. Charging through the field nine spots in the 50-lap affair, Ricky posted a seventh place finish.

After Friday night’s program was postponed to Sunday by Mother Nature, Ricky traveled to Red River Valley Speedway (West Fargo, N.D.) on Saturday evening for the $10,000 prize. Following the fastest time overall in a field of 32 cars, Weiss cruised to a 10-lap heat race victory, which positioned him on the pole for the feature. On Sunday afternoon at River Cities Speedway (Grand Forks, N.D.), Ricky posted a runner-up finish in his heat behind Mitch McGrath, sending him into the redraw. Pulling the pole position, Weiss shot out to an early race lead until lapped-traffic became a factor. Losing the top spot to Brandon Sheppard on lap-31, Ricky held on to a third place finish behind Sheppard and Cade Dillard with Dennis Erb Jr. and Dustin Strand completing the Top-5 finishers.

Pair of fourth place finishes with World of Outlaws in Wisconsin

Ricky Weiss returned to action with the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series on Friday night at Outagamie Speedway (Seymour, Wis.). Following the sixth fastest time in his group, Weiss scored a third place finish in his heat, which positioned him 12th on the starting grid for the opening night feature. Breaking into the Top-5, Ricky advanced through the field eight spots to place fourth behind Brandon Sheppard, Darrell Lanigan, and Nick Anvelink with Rodney Sanders coming in fifth.

Weiss scores a pair of podium finishes at Cedar Lake

Taking part in the Fourth of July weekend special, Ricky Weiss headed to Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, Wis.) on Thursday evening for the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series sanctioned program. With the Top 12 qualifiers from the first time trial session getting inverted, Weiss laid down the eighth fastest time, which positioned him fifth on the starting grid for the $3,000-to-win Elimination Showdown. After eliminating the four drivers in three 5-lap segments, the final eight cars would battle in the 8-lap shootout. Competing with Cade Dillard in the closing laps, Ricky crossed the line 0.172 seconds ahead of Dillard, but race officials penalized him three positions after they found a missing piece of rubber on the droop limiter. On Friday evening for the $20,000 prize, Ricky secured his spot into the show with a second place finish in his heat behind Scott Bloomquist. Holding his spot for all 40-laps, Weiss notched a third place finish behind Ashton Winger and Brandon Sheppard with Dennis Erb Jr. and Darrell Lanigan rounding out the Top-5.

For the finale on Saturday night, Weiss posted a runner-up finish in his heat behind Brandon Sheppard, which positioned him third on the starting grid for the $20,000-to-win finale. After falling outside the Top 3 early, Ricky overtook Dennis Erb Jr. for third near the midway point and came up short of passing Cade Dillard late in the 40-lapper to place 3rd behind Brandon Sheppard and Cade Dillard with Dennis Erb Jr. and Jimmy Mars completing the Top-5 finishers.
