Weiss notches sixth-place finish in Hoker 50 at Davenport

On Tuesday afternoon Ricky Weiss made a mid-week trip to Davenport Speedway (Davenport, Iowa) to do battle with the MARS Racing Series for the Hoker 50. Picking back up with the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series on Friday, Weiss and crew headed to Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.) for the 31st annual Prairie Dirt Classic weekend. With the massive 74-car field split into two groups for time trials, Weiss’ eighth fastest qualifying effort in his group locked him into the fourth-starting position for his $3,000-to-win preliminary feature. Transferring the Top 4 finishers in Saturday’s main event, Ricky logged a seventh-place finish.

After coming one spot shy of a transfer position in his B-Main on Saturday with a third-place finish, Ricky was granted a provisional into the $50,000-to-win Prairie Dirt Classic. Starting in 23rd, Weiss improved four spots in the 100-lap affair to record a 19th-place outing.

Ricky Weiss races to sixth-place finish I-80 Nationals finale

Ricky Weiss joined the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) on Tuesday as the tour invaded I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, Neb.) to kick off five consecutive nights of racing. Drawing 43 cars for the I-80 Nationals prelim, Weiss clocked in sixth fastest in his group before placing fourth in his heat. For another $7,000-to-win preliminary feature on Wednesday, Ricky jumped up two spots in his heat race to pick up the win. Rolling off sixth for the A-Main, Weiss advanced forward four spots to register a runner-up finish. He followed Tyler Erb across the line with Ricky Thornton Jr., Brandon Overton, and Stormy Scott rounding out the Top-5.

With preliminary results from Tuesday and Wednesday placing Weiss second on the starting grid for the Thursday night’s $30,000-to-win I-80 Nationals finale, Ricky faded four spots in the 53-lap affair to register a sixth-place finish.

On Friday for a pair of heat races to get the 11th annual Imperial Tile Silver Dollar Nationals underway, Ricky rebounded in his second heat to pick up the win after placing seventh in the first round.

Locked into the 16th-starting position for the $53,000-to-win main event on Saturday evening, Weiss charged forward four spots in the 80-lapper to finish 12th.

Top-5 finish with World of Outlaws at Red Cedar

After a few scheduled off days, the World of Outlaws picked back up on Friday afternoon at River Cities Speedway (Grand Forks, N.D.) for another $10,000-to-win A-Main. With a runner-up finish in his heat race placing him eighth on the starting grid for the feature, Weiss dropped one spot to record a ninth-place outing.

I-94 Sure Step Speedway (Fergus Falls, Minn.) was the site of the Saturday’s World of Outlaws event, and Ricky would secure his spot into the show with a second-place finish in his heat. With $10,000 on the line, Weiss lost two positions in the 40-lap affair to place eighth.

To bring the busy week to a close on Sunday, Weiss was one of 34 cars entered at Red Cedar Speedway (Menomonie, Wis.). Following the second fastest time in his group, Ricky dashed to a 10-lap heat race victory over Brent Larson. With the redraw positioning him on the pole, Weiss led the first seven circuits until Brandon Sheppard stole the top spot. He went on to place fifth in the 40-lapper, trailing Sheppard, Cade Dillard, Chris, Madden, and Jimmy Mars to the checkers.

On Saturday afternoon, Ricky timed in 10th fastest in his group before passing two cars in his heat race to finish third. Starting the $20,000-to-win A-Main in sixth, Weiss ran a steady pace throughout the 50-lapper to register a sixth-place finish.
