Podium finishes in WoO North Dakota doubleheader

Following the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series on their northern swing, Ricky Weiss visited Gondik Law Speedway (Superior, Wis.) on Tuesday afternoon for the $10,000 top prize. Scoring the fourth and final transfer spot in his 10-lap heat, Weiss locked into the 16th-starting position for the main event. Charging through the field nine spots in the 50-lap affair, Ricky posted a seventh place finish. (Tim Hunt photo)

After Friday night’s program was postponed to Sunday by Mother Nature, Ricky traveled to Red River Valley Speedway (West Fargo, N.D.) on Saturday evening for the $10,000 prize. Following the fastest time overall in a field of 32 cars, Weiss cruised to a 10-lap heat race victory, which positioned him on the pole for the feature. After leading the first 20 circuits, Ricky faded two spots to place third behind Darrell Lanigan and Brandon Sheppard with Chase Junghans and Ashton Winger rounding out the Top-5.

On Sunday afternoon at River Cities Speedway (Grand Forks, N.D.), Ricky posted a runner-up finish in his heat behind Mitch McGrath, sending him into the redraw. Pulling the pole position, Weiss shot out to an early race lead until lapped-traffic became a factor. Losing the top spot to Brandon Sheppard on lap-31, Ricky held on to a third place finish behind Sheppard and Cade Dillard with Dennis Erb Jr. and Dustin Strand completing the Top-5 finishers.

Ricky remains in second in the latest World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series point standings.
