Weiss Records Five Top-5 Finishes in Wild West Shootout

For the third round of the Wild West Shootout on Wednesday night at FK Rod Ends Arizona Speedway (Queen Creek, Arizona), Ricky Weiss laid down the fastest lap in his time trial group before streaking to an 8-lap heat race victory. Starting the $5,000-to-win A-Main in third, Weiss held his spot for all 30-laps to place 3rd behind Brandon Sheppard and Jimmy Mars with Brian Shirley and Chase Junghans rounding out the Top-5. Returning on Friday evening, Weiss secured his spot into the A-Main with an 8-lap heat race victory. Receiving the third-starting position via the redraw, Ricky dropped one spot to register a 4th place finish behind Brian Shirley, Brandon Sheppard, and Chris Simpson with Ricky Thornton Jr. coming in 5th.

On Saturday night, Ricky followed up the fastest time in his qualifying group with a 2nd place finish in his heat behind Chase Junghans. Passing three cars in the 30-lap feature, Weiss notched a runner-up finish behind Brian Shirley with Brandon Sheppard, Cade Dillard, and Bobby Pierce trailing them to the checkers.

For the final round of the 14th annual Wild West Shootout on Sunday afternoon, Weiss posted a 3rd place finish in his heat which positioned him ninth on the starting grid for the $15,000-to-win finale. Wheeling his way into a podium spot, Ricky passed six cars to place 3rd behind Brandon Sheppard and Johnny Scott with Brian Shirley and Bobby Pierce completing the Top-5 finishers.
