Top-10 run in World of Outlaws stop at Outagamie

The World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series returned on a northern swing on Tuesday afternoon as 29 competitors entered action at Outagamie Speedway (Seymour, Wis.) for the FVP Platinum Batteries Showdown. Following the second fastest lap in his time, Ricky Weiss posted a second-place finish in his heat, which came behind Ryan Gustin. With the redraw aligning him fifth on the starting grid for the feature, Weiss dropped four spots in the 40-lapper to finish ninth. (Jacy Norgaard photo)

On Thursday afternoon at Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, Wis.) as the 34th annual USA Nationals got underway with a $6,000-to-win preliminary feature, Weiss came in fourth in his heat before grabbing the second-and-final transfer spot in his B-Main. Shortly after preliminary events were finished, persistent rain postponed the feature to Friday.

Rolling off 22nd, Ricky jumped up two spots in the 30-lapper to finish 20th.

For a pair of heat races later Friday evening, Ricky followed up a ninth-place finish in his first heat with a fifth-place finish in his second round. Failing to place in the top 16 in passing points, Weiss transferred into the B-Main on Saturday for another shot at the $50,000-to-win USA Nationals.

Transferring the Top 3, Weiss grabbed a third-place finish, which positioned him 22nd on the starting grid for the finale. Improving 10 spots in the 100-lap affair, Ricky Weiss recorded a 13th-place finish.

Ricky is currently fifth in the latest World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series point standings.
