Weiss records runner-up finish with Crate Racin' USA at I-75 Raceway
Friday afternoon saw Ricky Weiss make a surprise Crate Late Model start at I-75 Raceway (Sweetwater, Tenn.) with the Crate Racin' USA Series.
In a stacked field of 38 Late Models, Weiss qualified second-fastest in his group which placed him on the second-row of the feature. For the $5,000-to-win main event, Ricky battled with the lead duo before settling for a runner-up finish behind race-winner Cory Hedgecock. Chip Brindle, Mark Whitener, and Blake Craft completed the Top-5.
Switching gears to Super Late Model competition on Saturday at Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tenn.), Wiess qualified sixth-quickest out of 23 Southern All Stars Super Late Models before a rain shower wiped out the remainder of the evening's activities. The $5,000-to-win event was rescheduled for July 1st.
