Weiss third in Hall of Fame 40 at Lake Cumberland

On Friday afternoon, Ricky Weiss made the trip to Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.) for the Mountain Moonshine Classic with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.

With 44 Late Models in the pit area, Weiss missed the setup in qualifying and wasn't able to make up any spots in his $5,000-to-win preliminary feature.

Being buried in a heat race, Weiss made the decision to skip the second day of action at Smoky Mountain and head to Lake Cumberland Speedway (Burnside, Ky.) for the Valvoline Iron-Man-sanctioned Hall of Fame 40.

With 25 Late Models on site, Ricky qualified eight-quickest and ran second in his heat race. Rolling off fifth in the $7,500-to-win feature, Weiss made up two spots to land on the podium in third. He trailed Josh Rice and Michael Chilton while Camaron Marlar and Will Roland rounded out the Top-5.
