Ricky Weiss

Weiss 10th in USA Nationals at Cedar Lake; Runner-up with Workin' Man Series

Fresh off the Southern Nationals tour, Ricky Weiss made the long haul to Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, Wis.) for the first night of the USA Nationals with the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series.

With a whopping 48 Late Models on site, Weiss fell just one spot short of the making $6,000-to-win preliminary feature with a third-place finish in his Last Chance Showdown. Taking part in the FANS Fund Dash, Weiss led 9 laps of the special event before being overtaken by Ricky Thornton Jr. with just a handful of laps to go.

For another $6,000-to-win preliminary feature on Friday, Weiss was unable to transfer to the main event after a sixth-place run in his B-Main.

Needing to finish inside the Top-3 in his Last Chance Showdown to crack Saturday's A-Main field, Ricky missed the transfer position but was able to receive the FANS Fund provisional starting spot in the $50,000 main event. Slowly moving his way forward in the 100-lap feature, Weiss gained 17 positions on his way to an impressive 10th-place outing.

Staying out in the Midwest for more racing, Ricky Weiss visited Gondik Law Speedway (Superior, Wis.) on Monday afternoon for the Superior Showcase with the XR Super Series.

With 34 Late Models at the track, Weiss earned the seventh-place starting position after a runner-up finish in his heat. For the $20,000-to-win main event, Ricky raced with the front-runners and landed inside the Top-5 in fifth.

The busy week wrapped up on Tuesday evening at Red Cedar Speedway (Menomonie, Wis.) with the XR Workin' Man Series.

Following a rough lap in qualifying, Weiss finished sixth in his heat race which placed him in the 17th-starting position. Once again charging through the field, Ricky went a on 17th-to-2nd charge in the 40-lap feature to finish runner-up to Nick Hoffman.
