Ricky Weiss treks to Knoxville Raceway for the Knoxville Nationals

Continuing his trip through the Midwest, Ricky Weiss and his Sniper Chassis team traveled into Iowa on Thursday afternoon for the 19th-annual Knoxville Lucas Oil Nationals at Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.

With 40 Late Models checked in for night one, Ricky started on the pole of his heat race but quickly faded back to finish 10th. With one more opportunity to transfer to the $7,000-to-win prelim, Weiss finished outside of a transfer position in fifth.

For another $7,000-to-win prelim on Friday, Weiss missed an A-Main transfer once again after finishing just one spot shy of the Top-2 in his B-Main.

For Saturday's $40,000-to-win finale, Ricky needed a Top-6 outing in his B-Main to transfer to the 75-lap main event. While running in a transfer position, Wiess suffered a mechanical issue which forced him pit side. He was scored ninth.
